The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) provides
the oldest example of the “multistakeholder model,” a private governance
structure which allows technologists to work with users and other
interested groups to create rules for new technologies, especially on the
Internet. Kleiman, a 20 year veteran of ICANN, co-author of many DNS
policies, and CITP Fellow, will outline the structure of ICANN’s
multistakeholder model and share her candid thoughts on its strengths and
shortcomings.
Unfortunately CITP has stopped livestreaming their talks due to red tape at
Princeton that insists that all webcasts must be captioned. Something that
appears beyond their capability or budget. I did recently forward info on
how to use the google translate API to achieve a pretty reasonable effect,
as I do on some ISOC webcasts, but not with any result. It''s not beyond
possibility that I could go down there and video this.
