[NCSG-PC] NCSG Statement on ALAC Review

Hi Farzi,

Thanks very much to both you and Ayden for taking the initiative and
circulating here. This is looking very good, I think.

I apologize for not chiming in earlier, but I would suggest that we include
something calling for the ALAC to adopt a conflict of interest policy. Some
of you may have heard me complaining about this in the past, but I do think
it's problematic that there's no rule against, for example, government
regulators, serving in leadership positions of a body that's meant to
represent the best interest of Internet end users worldwide. That's not to
say that the ALAC should only include people who don't qualify for other
SOs. I think that there's a fair bit of overlap with what ALAC does and
what NCUC does insofar as we also have individual users as members. But I
think having government folks there is particularly problematic.

I would be happy to help write something up, if that would be helpful.
