Hello everyone,

*We are currently facilitating a large global MyData community around the
ethical use of personal data and organise a 1000-person conference on the
topic.*

MyData is a human centered approach in personal data management that
combines industry need to data with digital human rights. MyData is both an
alternative vision and guiding technical principles for how we, as
individuals, can have more control over the data trails we leave behind us
in our everyday actions. The core idea is that we, you and I, should have
an easy way to see where data about us goes, specify who can use it, and
alter these decisions over time. Personal data has increasingly significant
social, economic, and practical value. The EU’s recent General Data
Protection Regulation
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation> changes
the landscape in which organisations operate. MyData makes GDPR actionable
- and is on e.g. Finnish government's program as one spearhead project.

The MyData network is having a Meetup in Toronto on day zero of the
RightsCon, 15th of May. Hopefully you can make it and bring a few
interested people along. Quite a few people are coming, they're just not
registered on Meetup.com. =)
