CCWG-IG Report

Attached you can find  the report of the group in charge of Internet
Governance discussions at ICANN.

The group at the moment is going through a transition.

The GNSO decided that it will not be the chartering organization of
CCWG-IG. I have been a representative of NCSG to CCWG-IG. Since GNSO is not
a chartering organization anymore I am not currently representing NCSG. The
group members and participants are working on transitioning the CCWG IG to
a CCEG-IG, which is a lightweight version of CCWG with some tweaks in the
structure.

In 2017 GNSO Council instructed CCWG-IG to choose another framework. The
CCWG-IG worked on a framework called CCEG-IG. They are still working on its

We are still looking for ways to see how GNSO council can charter this
group. But the group needs fundamental changes in its approach. It a good
platform for keeping in touch with Board and staff for their IG relations
but as it stands, just a couple of people from time to time respond to
Nigel Hickson email about statements and activities of ICANN at ITU and
United Nations.
