Summary of GNSO extraordinary council meeting and first EPDP drafting team meeting

Hi all,

I am sending here my summary of 2 last meetings happened in last days (12th
June and 19th June) covering only one issue: the expedited policy
development process (EPDP) to be initiated as a response of temporary
specification adopted by Board in last month. The temporary specification
adds provisions to registries and registrars with regard to whois and
registration data to comply with GDPR. As it is a temporary specification,
GNSO has to work to deliver a consensus policy to replace or confirm it.

The topic will be the focus of ICANN meeting next week in Panama and
covered in several sessions.

As they are giving guidance to council regarding the scope, timeline and
participation.

it also covered the topics present in this mindmap

(in
particular the scope and composition for the EPDP team) with the agreement
to go with the EPDP process. We also discussed the impact of the new
uniform accreditation model consultation announced this week on the EPDP.
As we couldn't cover all the issues during that council call, we scheduled
another call last Tuesday starting also the work for EDPP drafting team.
The EPDP drafting team is a council as whole participating in the
groundwork preparing for the EPDP.

The drafting team call was focused on filling the details for the EPDP
charter and initiation process by GNSO Operating Procedures

That meant starting working on several items present on template charter:

   - Composition / Membership Criteria
   - Leadership
   - Scope (mission, purposes, objectives, goals, deliverables, timeframes)
   - Decision-making methodologies
   - Status reporting
   - Problem/Issue Escalation & Resolution Processes

we have a lead for each topic to facilitate input gathering and prepare for
community input scheduled during Panama meeting on Monday at 17:00

The drafting team will also have meetings on Tuesday and possibly on
Wednesday for its deliberations and add the received community input.
People are welcome as observers in those EPDP drafting team meetings. We
also have a placeholder motion for the adoption of the charter if it is
ready in time.
