Thanks Farzaneh,
Just to kick off this discussion, my initial thoughts are...
- current NomCom tenure (1 year) is too short and doubling that to 2 years, as the report suggests, seems more appropriate
- agree with the report that the extent to which NomCom appointees and members are independent and prioritise the interests of the global Internet community (whatever that is) in their decision-making is an area of concern
- not enough communication between the NomCom and SO/ACs regarding the desired skills and qualities of potential candidates
- not clear to those who are not on the NomCom as to how the NomCom evaluates candidates, and how it ensures this is done consistently
- the current size of NomCom is perhaps too small; a proper sizing would see its composition equally balanced between commercial and non-commercial interests
- there are issues with institutional memory that this report does not seem to adequately address, but they do seem to be acknowledged within it.
But I have never served on the NomCom, so would be happy to hear from others, especially those who have served on it, to hear what they think of this report's assessment.
Best wishes,
Ayden
