Intersessional, meeting with the CEO and Board

Thanks, Farzaneh.

I have two suggested questions regarding the GDPR—

- As you may know, ICANN is considering a number of potential models intended to achieve compliance with the GDPR. There has been talk of an 'interim solution', a stop-gap that could come into effect from May, while a more permanent solution is found. Regardless of what model is chosen, there seems to be a movement towards there being a tiered-access model of some kind. Could you explain to us what challenges ICANN foresees in authenticating users who will be granted access through this tiered-access system? What process will ICANN follow through which it will receive and action upon input on this authentication process?

- The third Hamilton memo recommended that ICANN engage with the Article 29 Working Party. Has ICANN made contact with any European Data Protection Commissioners, and if so, what has the response been? If ICANN does schedule a bilateral with the Article 29 Working Party, who will be the focal points on the staff side, and what ASKs will the organisation be making? Last September, when ICANN last contemplated meeting with the Data Protection Authorities, the organisation said it would ensure at least two community members from each SO/AC would be at the table, with their travel supported by ICANN. Does this offer still stand?

Best wishes,

Ayden
