Hi all,

ICANN published a new public comment on Study on Technical Use of Root Zone
Label Generation Rules. This public comment can be relevant to those
interested on IDN topic and/or speaking language using non-latin scripts.
It also seems related to another ongoing public comment on IDN variant
https://www.icann.org/public-comments/managing-idn-variant-tlds-2018-07-25-en
<https://www.icann.org/public-comments/managing-idn-variant-tlds-2018-07-25-en>
 .

You can find more details about the background of this public comment and
the report here
https://www.icann.org/public-comments/technical-rz-lgr-2018-08-02-en.
Success of IDNs is important to ensure more access to non-latin script
users.

I created this google doc to be used during the drafting and accessible to
all:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iveyBsN5KVvY0cyL1-HGxU-6H2dyeR5MdS-SKjRTPGY/edit
.

Please let me know offlist if you want to volunteer for the drafting. It is
good to have several people to volunteer together and work as team so they
can share the tasks such as analyzing the report, conducting some research,
find previous work, proofreading and so on or just learning about the topic
and getting familiar with IDN. I will support you during the drafting if
you need any help during the whole process.

You can find previous public comment submitted by NCSG here
https://community.icann.org/display/gnsononcomstake/Public+Comments+-+2018 and
listing those who drafted them.

Best Regards,

Rafik Dammak
