As you might know we received funding from ICANN to organize an NCSG course to help members engage with policy at ICANN.
We primarily want this exercise to be used online so there will be a very strong emphasis on online participation and materials to be able to use after the face to face meeting. The face to face meeting will be held on 24 June but it will have remote participation available.
The one day face to face meeting in Panama is to shape the course, work on the capacity building scenarios and improve them to be held online and a combination of experienced and inexperienced members who already had travel support will be attending. Unfortunately, ABR had explicitly stated that no travel support will be allocated for the full duration of the course so we could not issue a call and send members without travel support. All the NCSG councilors will be attending, a combination of NCUC and NPOC members will be attending too who have travel support from fellowship program or from GNSO. ICANN accepted to pay for their one-night extra stay from the course budget.
The trainer will be Davide Kolb and he is designing the course with the help of a group of us already engaged with policy.
we have emphasized that we want this course to be held primarily online so that our members can use the materials, videos and webinars at any time and be encouraged to join various policy groups. So there will be a very strong remote participation component and two webinars before and after the event. We will also use ICANN learn to turn this into a useful capacity building course, available for everyone.
Best regards,
Farzaneh
