Not to worry Farrell, there are new lands to be explored.  For ex, there have been proposals in ITU-T SG 3 (the place where they used to do telephone rates) to study regulatory issues in AI, and the ITU is hosting the first of a promised series of annual conferences on AI this summer.  Here’s a good mission statement, “As the UN specialized agency for information and communication technologies, ITU is well placed to guide AI innovation towards the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We are providing a neutral platform for international dialogue aimed at building a common understanding of the capabilities of emerging AI technologies.” - Houlin Zhao, Secretary General of ITU

I guess somebody’s got to provide a neutral platform and guide AI innovation, might as well be the national telecom companies and ministries :-)
