No, this is a long
and painful story, as so many are in civil society. I believe
we had to fight pretty hard to get one NCUC seat (NPOC did not
exist, ALAC got 5) and Avri and others have been pushing for
an NPOC seat (actually we would like three, one for NCSG also,
you may recall I pushed at GNSO recently for three seats on
the SCC, the principle needs to be fought for consistently).
I will leave it to those who fought this battle to explain the
history, but civil society is totally underrepresented on
Nomcom because of course many ALAC reps are actually in
business.
cheers Stephanie

Isn’t it NCSG? since NCUC and NPOC have same status,
I would guess if there is NCUC there is NPOC, if not we have a
cause to fight there for an extra non-commercial spot.

Unfortunately, we only get one
member, and that is for NCUC. This is a campaign
that needs to be fought, to get more representation
at Nomcom, as other groups are much better
represented (eg. ALAC 5, Business 4).

The nomination is just for a main member
or for a main and alternate members?

I'll will second that and as Stephanie
said gender balance and the expertise she has
would surely add the necessary value.

Hi folks,
I wanted to remind people that the
nominations for our representative on
the NomCom are open. I would like to
nominate long time member Anriette
Esterhuysen from Johannesburg South
Africa to be our rep. Her biog can be
found here https://www.apc.org/user/207,
and I am very confident she will do a
great job for us. Anriette has lots of
experience in Internet governance, is
well versed in selection committees, and
could bring a different perspective to
the Nomcom.
As Bill
Drake has pointed out, the Nomcom is in
great need of better gender balance. I
am delighted that a woman with
Anriette's capabilities and experience
is willing to take this job on.
Regards,
Stephanie
