Hi,

Yes it is an interesting analysis. Yet some other things which i think is now going pertinent is that North Korea has run fiber through Russia it had the Chinese one and now the second one goes through Russia.

I am not a big fan of conspiracy theory. This also signifies that within the open space of the internet russia may be telling us that they have copied the root servers and made their own dns routing without the need to get to root servers along the line. 

However, they are keeping an open route for the .ru ccTLD to continue working being worldwide or internal. Since a few years back the French have been working on something similar to encroach on ICANN/IANA in a free open source way. Well we will need to see how things turn out.

I am skeptical but their is always a story for something to happen.
