Hi, all-

If you are interested in privacy and data protection, I just wanted to let you know that there is one working group at the moment which is a good entry point into the community's work.

[This working group](https://community.icann.org/display/gTLDRDS/Next-Generation+gTLD+Registration+Directory+Services+to+Replace+Whois) is looking at the rules for the collection of domain name registration data. Today this data includes the name, address, phone number, and email address of every registrant. The working group is also looking at the future of its collection, publication, and availability to those with a desire and/or need.

This working group meets once a week through the Adobe Connect platform (ICANN staff can arrange a dial out to your phone number if you prefer), but few people participate in every call. It is also okay to contribute ideas on the mailing list or in the weekly polls. The polls only take two minutes to complete but have a huge impact on our work.

I encourage you to join the working group. All it takes is an email to the GNSO Secretariat: gnso-secs at icann.org to indicate your interest in doing so.

There are a number of NCSG members in this working group who would be delighted to answer any questions you might have as someone new to this topic. So, if you're looking for a way to become a little more involved in domain name policy, this could be the right passageway for you to set foot in.

Best wishes,

Ayden Férdeline
