Nomination of Martin Silva Valent for the GNSO council

I’d like to express support for Martín Silva Valent continuing on the GNSO Council, too.
I have had the pleasure of working with Martín on a number of projects over the past 18 months. During this time he has displayed an admirable level of endurance. He gets that few things come easy at ICANN — especially the things that should come easy. He is highly pragmatic, and regularly uses his charisma and clarity of communication to get things done for us. It certainly helps that he has proven himself to be well-respected throughout our Stakeholder Group and beyond.
I don’t know what motivates Martín. But I do know that he is motivated by something other than money. We need more lawyers on the Council zealously advocating for non-commercial interests. And we need more people that care enough about what we do here within the NCSG to always be on-call. I remember a few months ago, the Policy Committee had drafted up a proposed statement on the At-Large Review, and we had just under two hours until the submission deadline for public comments closed. We needed one more endorsement before we could submit the comment. I sent Martín a message, and despite him being at dinner in Berlin with his girlfriend - on their anniversary, no less - he removed himself, reviewed the statement, and communicated his endorsement to the Policy Committee so we could meet the deadline. That’s commitment.
Martín, I hope you decide to seek a full term on Council in this election.
Best wishes,
Ayden Férdeline

He's also from South America, and I think the NCSG has no candidates to the GNSO council from there so far in this election. This would also help balancing the current geographic imbalance of the candidates to the GNSO so far.
