Hi All,

Following in Tapani's footsteps, I want to send an update as
well. Our NCSG Comments to the SubPro IRT about the New gTLD
Applicant Guidebook were long and comprehensive, and are making
an impact!

While not everything we recommended in being incorporated, many,
many of our comments are resulting in changes that make the New
gTLD Applicant Guidebook more readable, fairer, and more
reflective of real balance between Applicants and those who might
raise questions about their New gTLD applications (including
Noncommercial Communities).

Here are a few of the changes that resulted recently:

- Privacy and ensuring that the need for ICANN, as the revealer
of information about Applicants, to consider the needs of the
Applicant in addition to the requestor - extensive edits. Tx
you Michaela!

- Many changes and modifications to the Objections Procedure (a
long and expensive arbitration used for Community Objections,
Legal Rights Objections, and String Confusion Objections -- no
automatic consolidation of objections, allowing of extra evidence
and hearings if necessary and reasonable, and more being
discussed.

-----------

I'll continue to send updates. If anyone can join me in the
SubPro IRT meetings, it would be very useful as they are twice a
week now, and I can only attend once a week.

Best, Kathy
