Hi Tomslin and PC,

We have a comment ready for final edits, review and submission
for the Public Comment: Proposed Updates to the Operating
Standards for Specific Reviews.

It was good to discuss this comment in Seattle where we realized
that other group share our perspective: That ICANN is trying to
gut the 4 Independent Reviews and replace them as ordinary,
"specific reviews" run by ICANN Staff, planned by ICANN Staff and
limited by ICANN Staff.

Of course, we object!

Because of the nature of the comment form requested by ICANN Org,
I drafted individual objections to each section of the proposal--
to ensure our objections are clearly on the record and reflected
in ICANN's section-by section metrics to follow.

I recommend we include our broader, freeform comment - a writing
process that Yao led (tx you!!) -- as the response to the final
question: Other Comments and Submission. It gives us a
good and strong summary and conclusion!

Quick note that after our enthusiastic agreement at the NCSG/ALAC
meeting in Seattle, ALAC shared their draft comment with and it
opposes this entire comment process as "unnecessary, untimely and
an unreasonable draw on community resources." Our comment now
quotes this section of the ALAC comment at the very end - and
indicates our agreement.

Please review!
