<div>Hi all,<br></div><div><br></div><div>Apologies for the delay in my response to this message.<br></div><div><br></div><div>I would suggest that we not pin our hopes on ABRs for travel being successful this year. Given the operational efficiencies the organisation is trying to generate (largely at community expense), it seems unlikely to me that any travel requests would be approved. Historically we did receive travel support for the Global IGF, and once for INTA, but I'm not aware of any other occassions with a travel component where it was subsequently granted.<br></div><div><br></div><div>I think we also need to remember what our remit is, as the NCSG PC (and FC), and what remains the responsibility of the Constituencies. Both the NCUC and NPOC can and should independently submit ABRs; we should only be doing so as the NCSG where our interest in doing so is distinct from that of the Constituencies.<br></div><div><br></div><div>I would suggest submitting an ABR for funding for a server or managed hosting provider for the NCSG, so that we have our own 'space' to backup the Constituency mailing lists and our own files, and for funding to renew all of our own domain names for 10 years (contingency planning). <b>I note that our current domain name expires in May 2019.</b><br></div><div><br></div><div>I am broadly in agreement with Thato that there is value in submitting an ABR for a capacity building initiative too.<br></div><div><br></div><div>However I do not think, at this time, that there is a need for the NCSG FC to be holding community meetings at face-to-face ICANN meetings.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Many thanks,<br></div><div><br></div><div class="protonmail_signature_block"><div class="protonmail_signature_block-user"><div>Ayden <br></div></div><div class="protonmail_signature_block-proton protonmail_signature_block-empty"><br></div></div><div><br></div><div>‐‐‐‐‐‐‐ Original Message ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐<br></div><div> On Wednesday, 14 November 2018 06:50, Thato Mfikwe <thatomfikwe@gmail.com> wrote:<br></div><div> <br></div><blockquote type="cite" class="protonmail_quote"><div dir="ltr"><div>Hi Stephanie and all,<br></div><div><br></div><div>Apologies for the delayed response, just provide some comments regarding FY20 ABRs:<br></div><div><br></div><div>1. ABR have historically been used for travel to meetings, and during<b> FY18</b> there was a shift towards capacity building, outreach and communication support, 14 requests were declined in FY18.<br></div><div><br></div><div>In <b>FY19</b> the approved ABR we currently running on is centered around travel, communication and capacity building,6 requests were declined. <br></div><div><br></div><div>All this changes were necessitated by budget cuts but it seems like in FY20 the ABR will some how improve according to the ICANN finance during ICANN 63 during their FY20 planning meeting, so based on positive community responses from the capacity building approach, I would recommend that we still maintain capacity building, improving on communication while trying to support active and committee members engage more in PDPs and ICANN meetings. We need to find other ways of supporting members to represent and participate.<br></div><div><br></div><div>2. Secondly, we need to understand what the priorities and current projects that are running and how they can be supported through this ABR process from constituencies, committees, working groups and the Stakeholder Group itself.<br></div><div><br></div><div>3.
