<p style="margin:0px;font-style:normal;font-size:14.7px;line-height:normal;font-family:Arial;font-size-adjust:none"><span style="font-size:14.67px">My name is Juliana Harsianti, female, and I live in Indonesia which is part of the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. My day job is an independent researcher, and has been working with academia, civil society advocacy and policy development. I put my interest in these issues : multilingual internet, cybersecurity, open source, DNS and data protection. I have been mostly with the marginalized community, civil society organization, as well as journalist. So far, I don’t see any conflict of interest between my day work and my involvement at ICANN</span></p>

<p style="margin:0px;font-style:normal;font-size:14.7px;line-height:normal;font-family:Arial;font-size-adjust:none"><span style="font-size:14.67px">My primary official involvement with ICANN was through the ICANN Fellowship Program, as I was selected for ICANN72 and ICANN77 Fellow. Immediately after I completed my last fellowship program, I got exposed to the new gTLD application program when I joined ICANN Policy Development Accelerator Program part 1 and 2, as very first participants along with other ICANN Fellow alumnus. </span></p>

<p style="margin:0px;font-style:normal;font-size:14.7px;line-height:normal;font-family:Arial;font-size-adjust:none"><span style="font-size:14.67px">After I completed the Policy Development Accelerator, I decided to join NGSG and  Universal Acceptance (UA) Working Group, since it was  in line with my interest and working experience. I participated in several public comments under NCSG Policy Committee : new gTLD application program guidebook, RDRS, and string similarity on new gTLD program. I also participated several times on the APAC DNS Forum. Recently, I have been taking part on Latin Script Diacritic PDP and DNS Abuse Mitigation PDP as a member.</span></p>

<p style="margin:0px;font-style:normal;font-size:14.7px;line-height:normal;font-family:Arial;font-size-adjust:none"><span style="font-size:14.67px">Starting last year, I have served as NCUC Executive Committee for Asia Pacific. During my tenure I have been helping the ICANN85 Fellow and Next Gent to get more on NCSG and NCUC Communities. I also responded to the questions from new NCUC members - especially from the APAC region - about how they could participate more within NCUC and NCSG Policy Development. A moment ago,  I was helped to organize the 2nd NCUC Quarterly Webinar on Free Open Source and Software (FOSS)</span></p>

<p style="margin:0px;font-style:normal;font-size:14.7px;line-height:normal;font-family:Arial;font-size-adjust:none"><span style="font-size:14.67px">The reason I accepted the nomination for GNSO Councilor candidacy is I think I could serve and contribute my knowledge to represent non community voice more into GNSO Council. As my experience in several policy development and PDPs, the non-commercial interest and voices need to continue and have always been expressed loudly within the GNSO and ICANN Community in general. When certain policy development has been developing and under discussion,  the under-represented communities concerned need to bring constantly into the table to make it considered within the policy. It means to bring everything related with human rights, and to prevent abuse of power from certain parties. </span></p>

<p style="margin:0px;font-style:normal;font-size:14.7px;line-height:normal;font-family:Arial;font-size-adjust:none"><span style="font-size:14.67px">Having been working with marginalized communities, bring me into realization that inclusivity in the digital world is something I need to constantly push through, as in many cases it would be easily forgotten and violated. When DNS Abuse and HRIA, as among non-commercial related issues which have been successfully taken into policy; security and openness are something need taken into consideration too. </span></p>
