I agree with you Pedro.
The point makes a really valuable observation about the strategic role of NCSG (Non-Commercial Stakeholders Group) in shaping government policies. By emphasizing the interaction between governments and civil society groups, especially those with a significant influence on the electorate, you’re highlighting an effective pathway to gain traction with decision-makers.

Governments are often more attuned to the concerns of groups that resonate with their base, so connecting with these civil society organizations first will allow NCSG to tailor their approach in a way that aligns with what is already on the government’s radar. For example, if certain issues are already part of the political discourse whether they relate to economic development, human right and privacy issues, technology and security, or public welfare, NCSG can leverage these topics as entry points to start a conversation.

In regions where the technical community is closely integrated with civil society, having them involved in the discussion can help NCSG navigate the complex policy landscape. It allows for a more informed approach by identifying which issues are most pressing for the government, and which may serve as leverage to open doors for higher-level conversations.

Ultimately, it’s about building relationships with those who have influence and aligning the conversation with the government’s priorities, making it more likely that the voices of non-commercial stakeholders are heard and taken seriously.

This is simply my personal perspective.

Wisdom Donkor (CASP+, CISM, CEH Certified,)

President & CEO

Africa Open Data and Internet Research Foundation (AODIRF) | Africa Geospatial Data and Internet Conference (AGDIC)

P.O.
