Here is again my report as one of the NCSG reps to the SSC. The SCC<br>
met on Wednesday, 22 Jan 2025 to pick the (GNSO-appointed) Fellowship<br>
Program Mentor and the Fellowship Program Selection Committee Member.<br>
<br>
While the meeting quickly achieved consensus on the choices, the<br>
SSC procedures prescribe a 48-hour consensus call period allowing<br>
committee members who were not in the meeting to raise objections<br>
(note that this has never happened so far), so I can't yet announce<br>
the results.<br>

The next appointment coming up for the SSC is the Latin Diacritics<br>
PDP Working Group Chair.<br>

What did strike me was the poor attendance at the meeting. We delayed<br>
start by 2 minutes, as by then the only attendees were the chair and<br>
co-chair (Karen Day (RySG) and Segunfunmi Olajide (BC)) and two<br>
members, Natalie Howatson (RrSG) and me. Susan Mohr (ISPC) joined<br>
us at 3 min past the hour, and then our other two NCSG reps, Frank<br>
Anati at 5 minutes and Pedro de Perdigão at 15 minutes, with no-one<br>
else joining, so in the end NCSG had a strong presence, with IPC and<br>
NomCom appointees not being represented at all. I first thought this<br>
was because the Fellowship program appointments weren't seen as<br>
very important, but the chair commenting "we have more members<br>
than staff present, good" made me realize this was a common situation.<br>
I think it is a missed opportunity for the ones not represented, and<br>
I am happy to see we had all our representatives present.<br>
