Hi Wisdom and Juan,

I'm returning to our discussion last week about the Statements of
internet (SOI). Of course, as Chair, Manju must be neutral. But
Juan and Wisdom, you do not have to be. You are advocates for the
needs and concerns of NCSG, and there are many on this issue!

As you know from our written comments and discussion online, NCSG
**wants open and public disclosure of who you work for
when you are negotiating ICANN policy; it is the right of other
people in the room (us for example) to know who we are
negotiating with and on whose interests (big, small, commercial,
noncommercial, name) someone seeks to advance.**

There is nothing new about this type of policy disclosure in any
policy proceeding I know. It is very, very, very unusual to come
before a regulatory agency and NOT share who you are submitting
your comment for - what company or entity. Law firms almost never
submit comments in policy proceeding for themselves - they are
paid to submit them for others and the disclosure those clients.

I have to tell you that I am not happy with the current
compromise. It changes things a little, but not enough (IMHO). I
have been negotiating ICANN policy for too many years in Policy
Development Process working groups and other task forces where I
get the funny feeling that many people in the room (lawyers and
consultants) work for the same company, but have not disclosed. I
would like them to disclose - in full. It's fair, it's right and
its standard practice in other forums.

It's not a violation of ethics rules for lawyers, and we (NCSG)
have given examples in our written comments.

Wisdom, Juan, how can you/we fight more for our NCSG
position? How to we push this process to reveal more? It
would help us a lot in the future!

Best and tx, Kathy
