@ burnout and PDP: As a member of ATRT3 I proposed a time cap on PDPs. If there is no result after two years, the PDP group will get a yellow card, some comments from the Board/Council and another year. Without an adopted policy the PDP will be closed after three years and goes back to the community. The idea did not get the support of the ATRT team :-)))

We have a few things that have taken so long into implementation that either they are now clearly outdated to the point of needing rework (such as PPSAI) or the community knowledge we need on the IRT is no longer available. And the IRTs are increasingly being used as a place to try to relitigate policy issues. It just adds to the burnout, not just because of the length of time involved (I literally am only now seeing some of the issues I was involved in when I first joined ICANN resolved) but because IRTs really need to have people who were on the PDP on them and understand the issues at stake, so experienced volunteers often end up doing double duty.

It also means solving issues for the whole pipeline, as I wrote we got policy recommendations, meaning community hard fought deliverables stuck at ICANN org and board side for too long with the real threat of relitigation and redoing the work . How we can talk about fixing volunteers burnout when those who put time and effort cannot see the outcome of their work for long times. </span>
