<p>Just a reminder folks, tomorow at 10;00 UTC we have the meeting
between the ICANN Board and the NCSG. They gave us this topic to
focus on:</p>
<p>Enhancing the effectiveness of the Multistakeholder model: key
issues and opportunities for acceleration. In your preparation you
may want to consider the results of the most recent public
consultation, and work that has progressed with dependencies to
enhancing the effectiveness of the MSM (such as the ATRT3 report
and work on prioritization and budgeting). <br>
</p>
<p>We offered these topics for discussion:</p>
<p> </p>
<ol type="1" start="1">
<li class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="color:#002060;margin-left:0cm;mso-add-space:auto;mso-list:l0
level1 lfo1"> <span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-CA">The
NCSG would be interested to hear the Board’s views on the EPDP
report, and the various letters that the CEO has been writing
recently on that topic.</span></li>
<li class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="color:#002060;margin-left:0cm;mso-add-space:auto;mso-list:l0
level1 lfo1"> <span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-CA">ICANN
has invested quite a lot of financial and personnel resources
on the Internet and Jurisdiction project. Since transborder
data flow and jurisdiction remains an active issue both in our
ongoing policy work (e.g. the EPDP) and in current data
protection court cases (e.g.Schrems II and the US response to
the removal of Privacy Shield as a preferred transborder
dataflow option) we would be interested to hear about how the
Board views the results and takeaways from this project.</span></li>
<li class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="color:#002060;margin-left:0cm;mso-add-space:auto;mso-list:l0
level1 lfo1"> <span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-CA">We
are concerned about the growing use of google docs as a
consultation mechanism. While it undoubtedly simplifies the
work for staff, and possibly for some folks who are
commenting, it does seem to us to steer comments in limited
directions. It is also awkward for those not used to the
framework. Could we have a discussion about possible options
to mitigate what we see as risks with this mechanism?</span></li>
</ol>
<p>We followed up with two more, which were more or less
amalgamated. The one on the EPDP now reads</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black"> </span></p>
<ul style="margin-top:0in" type="disc">
<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-add-space:auto;mso-list:l2
level1 lfo9">
<span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-CA">The NCSG would be
interested to hear the Board’s views on the EPDP report, and
the various letters that the CEO has been writing to various
parties on that topic, notably the GAC and DPAs</span></li>
</ul>
<p>And the final one is as follows:</p>
<p><span style="mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">Thank you for briefing
the GNSO Council on the new Operational Design document which
you recently circulated. We have a number of concerns which we
would like to discuss with the Board about this proposal.</span></p>
<p><span style="mso-fareast-language:EN-GB"><br>
</span></p>
<p><span style="mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">Many thanks to Maryam,
as always, for shepherding our last minute revisions through the
system. Please tune in tomorrow to take part in this
discussion.</span></p>
<p><span style="mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">Kind regards, <br>
