I think there has been really great work on improving
transparency, and as Wisdom noted a couple of days ago, we
need to improve communications. I think a lot of our members
who are inactive do not understand how to find the records and
documents; the ICANN website is quite opaque.</font></font></p>
<p><font size="+1"><font face="Lucida Grande">As to deleting the
records of applicants who were rejected...you do need to keep
them long enough for individuals to ask for access under the
GDPR. Let me get back to you with a proposed retention
schedule on that. I also see no problem in keeping just the
name and country, with the date of application and reason for
rejection, in order to inform future committees in the event
of persistent application.</font></font></p>
<p><font size="+1"><font face="Lucida Grande">We have a wide open
membership, with no membership fees. There are no
disincentives for bad actors who might wish to join under
false pretenses. We need some rigour in our processes to
defend our interests, which is to fight for an open and
inclusive Internet that respects human rights.</font></font></p>

member of NCSG), is a black box and no one knows how we

approve the members through this process: 1. Comment on their
application: based on their SOI verify their noncommercial
