concern for the CEO, because he is directing the staff who
support us, he is setting their objectives and goals, and we
are the raw material they are working with, as the volunteers

We have to be more proactive. When we initated 3 heavy PDPs in same time, we didn't factor basic project management issues and that is why I meant by "wishful thinking" management. </div><div>For the staffing and resources, he will respond to you that is set in the budget, operating planning and strategical plan that "community made" and he is tied. We already made comments on the resourcing issues for FY19 budget, inclduign the one from Council. To be frank he will dodge those questions easily and can possibly direct to this for example <a href="https://www.icann.org/news/blog/supporting-community-policy-and-advice-work-a-few-key-indicators">https://www.icann.org/news/blog/supporting-community-policy-and-advice-work-a-few-key-indicators</a> , telling that is up to community to make decisions and priority, and he will follow what we decide. </div><div><br></div><div>again he indicated that he will propose some solutions for community input. as you know at council we are also trying to improve things related to PDP and their management, we are taking ownership of those issues. </div><div><br></div><div>Best,</div><div><br></div><div>Rafik </div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><p></p><div><div class="gmail-h5">

<div>I have feeling we can guess right now his answer as he
wrote in this blog post (<span class="gmail-TSRSpan" id="gmail-TSRSpan_4"><img class="gmail-TSRWebRatingIcon" style="width: 16px; height: 16px; border: 0px;"></span><span class="TSRSpan" id="TSRSpan_5"><img class="TSRWebRatingIcon" src="chrome-extension://cfeleongjhdjephegmmmdjgbfjiindbe/./images/webicon_green.png" style="width: 16px; height: 16px; border: 0px;"></span><a href="https://www.icann.org/news/blog/budget-discussions-at-icann61" target="_blank" style="background-color:rgb(184,234,184)">https://www.icann.org/news/<wbr>blog/budget-discussions-at-<wbr>icann61</a>)
saying that he will come back with paper about reviews and
also mentioned the PDP . I doubt there will be any new
answer on this, as he also talked about during Puerto rico
meeting.</div>
<div>tbh I am wondering why we would ask the CEO on those
matter. some workload is self-inflected as we are still
not doing a better "program management" and
prioritization, and functioning with "wishful thinking"
management. There are some work intiated by ICANN and
board that can be reprioritized and put less burden on us.</div>
<div>there is some irony as those issues have a feeling od
deja-vu as they were matter of discussion with Fadi and
SO/AC leaders few years ago and there was some attempt at
that time....</div>
