<div dir="ltr">Thank you very much for the summary on Council discussions, Tatiana! It definitely helped with the Policy Call today. <div><br></div><div>Maybe this is a model we could implement with WGs as well ?</div><div><br></div><div>Best, </div><div>B</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">2018-01-24 8:19 GMT-02:00 William Drake <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:wjdrake@gmail.com" target="_blank">wjdrake@gmail.com</a>></span>:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div style="word-wrap:break-word;line-break:after-white-space">Hi<div><br></div><div>An excellent and informative summary, thanks for doing it.</div><div><br></div><div>Best</div><div><br></div><div>Bill<div><div class="h5"><br><div><br><blockquote type="cite"><div>On Jan 23, 2018, at 16:51, Tatiana Tropina <<a href="mailto:tatiana.tropina@GMAIL.COM" target="_blank">tatiana.tropina@GMAIL.COM</a>> wrote:</div><br class="m_-7439149544668037143Apple-interchange-newline"><div><div dir="ltr">Dear NCSG members,<div><br></div><div>as a preparation for tomorrow's policy call, I would like to share some information about the previous GNSO meeting to refresh your memory (in case you listened to the previous GNSO meeting) or provide enough information and summary so you can easily catch up. </div><div><br></div><div>The previous GNSO meeting took place on December, 21st. If you are interested in details of the discussion, you can check the <a href="https://gnso.icann.org/en/meetings/minutes-council-21dec17-en.pdf" target="_blank">minutes of the meeting</a>. I will try to link the following summary with the documents and discussion to what is going to happen at the GNSO meeting and to the discussions at our policy call tomorrow.</div><div><br></div><div>In summary, at the previous meeting, the GNSO at the meeting on 21st of December, 2017:<br></div><div><br></div><div>1) Adopted the <a href="https://gnso.icann.org/en/drafts/draft-icann-budget-operations-charter-11dec17-en.pdf" target="_blank">GNSO Standing Committee on Budget & Operations (SCBO) Charter</a> on an interim basis. You might remember NSCG leadership issued a call for volunteers for SCBO, and we have several GNSO councillors from NCSG participating in that committee. </div><div><br></div><div>2) Discussed the updates on the charter drafting exercise related to the next</div><div>steps for the ICANN Procedure of Handling Whois conflicts with Privacy. As a result of the discussion, the drafting team members were tasked to share draft charter and identified questions in charter with their SG/Cs for feedback, review this input and finalize the charter for GNSO Council consideration. This issue is now taken to the Council vote for the next meeting on 30th of January, 2018 - you can check the <a href="https://community.icann.org/display/gnsocouncilmeetings/Motions+30+January+2018" target="_blank">motion</a> for the Council vote. I believe we are going to discuss this on the NCSG policy call tomorrow.</div><div><br></div><div>3) Planned for the ICANN 61. The Councillors were updated on the progress of the ICANN61 block schedule and nature and number of cross-community topics being discussed. Currently, the schedule is still work in progress and will be posted in February. </div><div><br></div><div>4) Discussed the updates on progress for the “Review of all Rights Protection</div><div>Mechanisms in all gTLDs” data request. The updates were provided by the three co-chairs of the Review of all Rights Protection Mechanisms in all gTLDs (RPM) PDP WG, Phil Corwin, Kathy Kleiman and J. Scott Evans. You can check their <a href="https://gnso.icann.org/en/meetings/presentation-rpm-rfp-timeline-19dec17-en.pdf" target="_blank">presentation</a> for the update. <br></div><div><br></div><div>5) Discussed under the AOB agenda item the update on the progress of the Second Security, Stability, and Resiliency (SSR2) Review Team. As you might remember, this Review Team was suspended at the time of ICANN60 meeting, and this suspension raised a lot of controversies as to how the review teams can operate within the empowered community and what the ICANN Board's role in the suspension could possibly be, if at all. </div><div>As an action item from this discussion, the Standing Selection Committee, as requested by the GNSO Council, was tasked to review the 3 remaining GNSO SSR2 candidates against the skills matrix developed by SSR2 RT members following ICANN60, and to provide their findings to the GNSO Council. However, it was also generally agreed that the reasons for suspending SSR2 RT activity were unclear not only to the GNSO Council, but to the SSR2 RT members themselves.</div><div>The next GNSO meeting has under the <a href="https://community.icann.org/display/gnsocouncilmeetings/Final+Proposed+Agenda+30+January+2018" target="_blank">Agenda</a> item 9 the review of Second Security, Stability, and Resiliency (SSR2-RT) Letter fro
