Ian has</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">indicated he will not be renominating.</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; "> The Independent Chair facilitates the work of CSCG in providing</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">a consolidated nomination process for civil society representatives</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">to outside bodies. Current members are representatives of</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">Association for Progressive Communications, Best Bits Coalition,</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">Internet Governance Caucus, Just Net Coalition, and Non Commercial</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">Stakeholders Group of ICANN.</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; "> Nominations are now open and will close on Sunday, November 22.</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">The new Independent Chair will be chosen by a consensus process of</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">the current member representatives.</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; "> The successful candidate will need to have skills in</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">facilitating and leading selection processes in a timely and</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">efficient manner. The person will need to be able to work beyond</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">their immediate opinions on issues to ensure that all civil society</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">voices are heard and considered in selection processes. They will</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">also be expected to further assist the development and</span><br style="font-size: 12.8px; "><span style="font-size: 12.8px; ">consolidation of CSCG during their two year tenure.
