Correct. I think when previous administrations suggested this kind
of thing (a US internet 'kill switch') the prospect was eventually
given up as infeasible given the number of exchange points in the
US. (in other countries such as Canada where there are fewer
chokepoints may be less difficult to achieve).<br>

However, the US does appear to already have a policy in place for
killing mobile telecoms:<br>

I think it's currently limited to emergency situations, and even Mr
Trump may have a hard time convincing anyone that 'people
criticizing me online' is any sort of emergency, but who knows?!<br>

implications of a possible attempt from the states but it's just
to buttress that the Internet has grown and expanded to become
un-killable with a kill switch in a country. Not even Trump can
trample the internet for so long ;-)</p>
