<div dir="ltr">Dear Carlos, <div><br></div><div>I agree that we should raise this issue in the GNSO meeting with GDD. However, I also see value in making a question about this topic to the board. By doing that we are sending a clear message that this issue is considered a high priority in our SG and we are giving it much more visibility. A question to GDD does not have the same political importance. Moreover, GDD is staff, is technical, and I believe this issue has a strong political component that makes it a good candidate to be a "board question". Finally, I already asked these questions to Atallah when he was here for the launch of .Rio a couple of weeks ago and the answers were evasive. I think it is time to take a shot with the board if others believe this is an important issue. </div><div><br></div><div>Best!</div><div>Marília</div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Mon, Sep 28, 2015 at 8:15 PM, Carlos Raúl Gutiérrez <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:crg@isoc-cr.org" target="_blank">crg@isoc-cr.org</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div style="word-wrap:break-word">Dear marilia<div><br></div><div>Very timely and interesting question<div>But I would rather put it directly to Mr. Attala in the session with the GDD President. Yes Nora briefed the GNSO, and I asked about getting access to her
research. She said she would post a wiki, but they have not done
any research outside ICANN yet, apparently. Makes one wonder how we
actually determine "the public interest".<span><font color="#888888"><br>

research in the "global public interest". I believe it was the
annual mtg last where we asked the board about its understanding
of the global public interest, how it determines, on what basis,

compiling some research that it would share and had hired Nora.
So it would be great if we could have an update or further
conversation on this concept, how it is determined and applies,
etc.
