Of course, it might have been better to organize the process in a more transparent and collaborative manner from the start so that we didn’t have to go through a lot of unneeded cycles and angst to get to this point. On the other hand, we learn by doing, and the contention around the accountability and IANA processes does seem to have chastened the organizational leadership, which is now professing that a page has been turned and everything will be done in a more community-driven and collaborative manner going forward.
